Definition of Polyp:

A usually nonmalignant growth or tumor protruding from the mucous lining of an organ such as the nose, colon or bladder, often causing obstruction.  Polyps can appear elsewhere, for example in the intestines, sinuses, stomach, uterus, or cervix.
