Breastfeeding

Evaluating Risk Factors: Breastfeeding Children

Evaluating your likely current (and near future) state of health means taking into account the risk factors — such as breastfeeding — that affect you.   Our medical diagnosis tool, The Analyst™, identifies major risk factors by asking the right questions.

Diagnose your symptoms now!
  • see your health summarized and in detail
  • learn what you should be doing right now
  • identify any nutritional deficiencies
If you indicate having been pregnant but not now or being pregnant again, The Analyst™ will ask further questions including this one:
Are you currently nursing (breastfeeding) a child?
Possible responses:
→ Don't know
→ No
→ Yes, but unable to produce enough milk for 1 child
→ Yes, successfully nursing 1 child
→ Yes, successfully nursing 2 or more children

The Diagnostic Process

Based on your response to this question, which may indicate not nursing a child, poor milk production, nursing a child or nursing more than one child, The Analyst™ will use differential diagnosis to consider possibilities such as:
Zinc Requirement

If zinc intake is chronically low, breastfeeding further increases the risk of zinc deficiency in the mother due to the greater need for zinc during lactation.
