  • see your health summarized and in detail
  • have a doctor review your case (optional)
  • learn what you should be doing right now

Diagnosis is usually a complex process due to the sheer number of possible causes and related symptoms.  In order to diagnose afternoon or evening fatigue, we could:

  • Research the topic
  • Find a doctor with the time
  • Use a diagnostic computer system.
The process is the same, whichever method is used.

Step 1: List all Possible Causes

We begin by identifying the disease conditions which have "afternoon or evening fatigue" as a symptom.  Here are eight possibilities:
  • Hypothyroidism
  • Caffeine Intoxication
  • Low Estrogens
  • Syndrome X
  • Stress
  • Hypoglycemia
  • Adrenal Fatigue
  • Narcolepsy

Step 2: Build a Symptom Checklist

We then identify all possible symptoms and risk factors of each possible cause, and check the ones that apply:
male characteristics
occasionally feeling unusually cold
refined white flour consumption
severe fatigue after slight exertion
high sensitivity to bright light
indoor allergies
history of cysts in breasts
hyperthyroidism in family members
low diastolic blood pressure
low energy/stamina
being a lethargic person
rotten egg burps
... and more than 180 others

Step 3: Rule Out or Confirm each Possible Cause

A differential diagnosis of your symptoms and risk factors finds the likely cause of afternoon or evening fatigue:
Cause Probability Status
Narcolepsy 99% Confirm
Adrenal Fatigue 17% Unlikely
Hypothyroidism 14% Unlikely
Stress 3% Ruled out
Syndrome X 3% Ruled out
Hypoglycemia 0% Ruled out
Caffeine Intoxication 0% Ruled out
Low Estrogens 0% Ruled out
