Reaction To Hot Temperatures

What Causes Heat Intolerance?

Heat intolerance can have various causes, ranging in severity from 'minor' to 'very serious'.  Finding the true cause means ruling out or confirming each possibility – in other words, diagnosis.

Diagnose your symptoms now!
  • check your overall health status
  • have a doctor review your case (optional)
  • identify any nutritional deficiencies

Diagnosis is usually a complex process due to the sheer number of possible causes and related symptoms.  In order to diagnose heat intolerance, we could:

  • Research the topic
  • Find a doctor with the time
  • Use a diagnostic computer system.
The process is the same, whichever method is used.

Step 1: List all Possible Causes

We begin by identifying the disease conditions which have "heat intolerance" as a symptom.  Here are five possibilities:
  • High Histamine
  • Epstein-Barr Virus
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Hyperthyroidism
  • Adrenal Fatigue

Step 2: Build a Symptom Checklist

We then identify all possible symptoms and risk factors of each possible cause, and check the ones that apply:
very tender muscles
regularly feeling unusually cold
poor cold weather tolerance
regular unexplained nausea
major unexplained weight gain
elevated free T4
edema of the eyelids
very strong appetite
unusual vaginal bleeding
history of cortisol use
sexual abuse during childhood
being easily irritated
... and more than 120 others

Step 3: Rule Out or Confirm each Possible Cause

A differential diagnosis of your symptoms and risk factors finds the likely cause of heat intolerance:
Cause Probability Status
Hyperthyroidism 90% Confirm
High Histamine 30% Unlikely
Epstein-Barr Virus 3% Ruled out
Multiple Sclerosis 1% Ruled out
Adrenal Fatigue 1% Ruled out
* This is a simple example to illustrate the process

Arriving at a Correct Diagnosis

The Analyst™ is our online diagnosis tool that learns all about you through a straightforward process of multi-level questioning, providing diagnosis at the end.

In the Environmental Risk Factors section of the questionnaire, The Analyst™ will ask the following question about reaction to hot temperatures:
How does hot weather affect you in general?
Possible responses:
→ I can't take the heat well
→ It makes little difference / I'm fine / don't know
→ I enjoy hot weather
Based on your response to this question, which may indicate either poor tolerance of heat or good tolerance of heat, The Analyst™ will consider possibilities such as:
Multiple Sclerosis

Damaged nerve fibers have a strongly diminished tolerance for heat.  Increases as little as 0.1 degrees centigrade can decrease conduction or cause blockage, which will result in the appearance of symptoms.
