How Long You Have Had Night Sweats

What Causes Chronic Night Sweats?

Chronic night sweats can have various causes, just like most other symptoms.  Finding the true cause means ruling out or confirming each possibility – in other words, diagnosis.

Diagnose your symptoms now!
  • let The Analyst™ find what's wrong
  • see your health summarized and in detail
  • have a doctor review your case (optional)

Diagnosis is usually a complex process due to the sheer number of possible causes and related symptoms.  In order to diagnose chronic night sweats, we could:

  • Research the topic
  • Find a doctor with the time
  • Use a diagnostic computer system.
The process is the same, whichever method is used.

Step 1: List all Possible Causes

We begin by identifying the disease conditions which have "chronic night sweats" as a symptom.  For example, kidney stones.

Step 2: Build a Symptom Checklist

We then identify all possible symptoms and risk factors of each possible cause, and check the ones that apply:
significant left lumbar pain
inguinal pain
mild hypogastric discomfort
insufficient water consumption
discontinued low-carb diet
kidney stones
much vitamin D supplementation
blood in urine
calcium supplementation
painful urination
kidney stones in family members
having excess body fat
... and so on

Step 3: Rule Out or Confirm each Possible Cause

A differential diagnosis of your symptoms and risk factors finds the likely cause of chronic night sweats.

Arriving at a Correct Diagnosis

The Analyst™ is our online diagnosis tool that learns all about you through a straightforward process of multi-level questioning, providing diagnosis at the end.

In the Sleep-Related Symptoms section of the questionnaire, The Analyst™ will ask the following question about how long you have had night sweats:
If you suffer from Night Sweats, for how long has it been a problem?
Possible responses:
→ Not applicable / don't know
→ Recent onset only - less than 2 weeks' duration
→ 2 weeks to 2 months
→ 2 to 6 months
→ Longer than 6 months
Based on your response to this question, which may indicate acute night sweats, recent night sweats or chronic night sweats, The Analyst™ will consider possibilities such as Kidney Stones (Urolithiasis).
