Black Walnut
  Black Walnut (Green Hull)
 Recommended for…

Found in the unripe hulls of Black Walnut (Juglans nigra), juglone exerts anti-fungal, anti-helminthic, anti-viral and anti-bacterial effects. History; Source

The hulls of black walnuts have been used historically by the Asians, as well as American Indian tribes to expel various types of worms.

Usually black walnut hulls are ground fresh and supplied as a powder in order to be included in various supplements.

Function
It is thought that the high tannin content is responsible for the anthelmic property of black walnut, although there are other constituents such as juglandin and juglone that may also be responsible. The primary active constituent in Black Walnut is a naphthoquinone known as juglone.

Directions
The following protocol is a composite of the recommendations of Dr. Hulda Clark and Dr. William Lee Cowden, MD. Stick to the program for 10-14 days, take 5-7 days off, then repeat for another 10-14 days. CAUTION: All protocols are for adult dosage only and are generalized; dosages and conditions will vary with the individual. Listen to your body; build up dosages slowly and carefully; only go at a rate you can tolerate. Before beginning any treatment, consult a qualified health care professional. This is especially important in the case of treating children, or if you are pregnant.

Bear in mind that if one member of a family is infected, other family members or persons living at close quarters frequently are too. In the case of pinworms, this is almost always the case.

BLACK WALNUT HULLS
If you take the liquid extract, make sure the extract is made from fresh whole green hulls of black walnut. You may also use black walnut capsules. Take with water 15-20 minutes before a meal.

For black walnut hull capsules, this is what Dr. Cowden recommends:
Day 1: 2X daily, 1 capsule
Day 2: 2X daily, 2 capsules
Day 3: 3X daily, 2 capsules
Day 4: 3X daily, 3 capsules
Day 5: 3X daily, 4 capsules
Day 6: 3X daily, 5 capsules
Day 7: 3X daily, 6 capsules
Continue at 2 capsules 3X daily through to day 14.
During the second 10-14 day round, take 6 capsules 3X each day.

For black walnut hull extract, this is what Dr. Clark recommends:
Day 1: 4X daily, 1 drop mixed in water. Space the drops 4 hours apart, starting in the morning.
Day 2: 4X daily, 2 drops
Day 3: 4X daily, 3 drops
Work up to 20 drops taken 4 times daily and continue at this rate until the treatment program is finished.

WORMWOOD
Wormwood works best when the full day's dosage is taken at one time, 15-20 minutes before a meal, says Dr. Cowden. Here is his recommendation:
Day 1: 2 capsules
Day 2: 4 capsules
Day 3: 6 capsules
Day 4: 8 capsules
Day 5: 10 capsules
Day 6: 12 capsules
Day 7: 14 capsules.
Continue at 14 capsules until the course is complete. Stay off wormwood during the same 5-7 days you're off black walnut, then resume at 14 capsules of wormwood daily for another 10-14 days.

CLOVES
Crush fresh cloves in a coffee grinder and fill "gelatin capsules" or "veggie caps" (size "00"). Fill the capsules at once and discard any left-over clove powder as it loses its potency quickly when exposed to the air. You will need 117 clove capsules, says Dr. Cowden.

According to Dr. Cowden, this is the schedule to follow:
Day 1: 3X daily, 1 capsule
Day 2: 3X daily, 2 capsules
Day 3: 3X daily, 3 capsules
Then 3 capsules 3X daily through day 14. Take capsules 15-20 minutes before a meal. Stay off cloves the same days you are off wormwood and black walnut, then resume at 3 capsules 3X daily for another 10-14 days.

Some manufacturers provide a tincture containing all 3 of these herbs, which simplifies the procedure for people with a busy schedule.

Black Walnut can help with the following:
Infections  Yeast / Candida Infection
  Lyme Disease
  Blastocystosis (Blastocystis hominis)
Hulda Clark's well-known anti-parasitic formula of wormwood, black walnut and cloves may be helpful in reducing Blastocystis.

Parasites

  Parasite Infection
A common natural remedy for flushing parasites out of one's system is a blend of 3 herbs: Black walnut (green hull) tincture, wormwood capsules, and fresh ground cloves (to kill the parasites' eggs).

GLOSSARY

Herbs (Herb, Herbal)
Herbs may be used as dried extracts (capsules, powders, teas), glycerites (glycerine extracts), or tinctures (alcohol extracts). Unless otherwise indicated, teas should be made with one teaspoon herb per cup of hot water. Steep covered 5 to 10 minutes for leaf or flowers, and 10 to 20 minutes for roots. Tinctures may be used singly or in combination as noted. The high doses of single herbs suggested may be best taken as dried extracts (in capsules), although tinctures (60 drops four times per day) and teas (4 to 6 cups per day) may also be used.

An organism living in or on another organism.

Pinworms (Enterobiasis, Enterobious vermicularis, Oxyuriasis, Pinworm, Pinworm Infection, Seatworm, Threadworm)
Small intestinal parasitic worms that infect mainly children but which are also common in families with children. Pinworms are about 1/2 an inch (1.25cm) in length, white, thin and pointed at both ends. The most common symptom is anal itching, as the worms come out at night to lay their eggs.

Tincture
An alcohol or water-alcohol solution, usually referring to a preparation from herbal materials.
