Exposure To Solvents

Evaluating Risk Factors: Solvent Use

Evaluating your likely current (and near future) state of health means taking into account the risk factors — such as exposure to solvents — that affect you.   Our medical diagnosis tool, The Analyst™, identifies major risk factors by asking the right questions.

Diagnose your symptoms now!
  • check your overall health status
  • let The Analyst™ find what's wrong
  • have a doctor review your case (optional)
If you indicate exposure to hazardous substances, The Analyst™ will ask further questions including this one:
Have you been exposed to solvents or other carcinogens through lungs or skin, for example working with paints, glues, fuels or other chemicals?
Possible responses:
→ No / don't know
→ Mild / short term, in the past only
→ Heavy / long term, in the past only
→ Moderate / short term current exposure
→ Heavy / long term current exposure

The Diagnostic Process

Based on your response to this question, which may indicate history of solvent exposure, current exposure to solvents or high current exposure to solvents, The Analyst™ will use differential diagnosis to consider possibilities such as:
Bladder Cancer

People in occupations that involve work with carcinogens have a greater risk of developing bladder cancer.

Brain Tumor

Some factors can make the disease more likely.  For example, chemists, embalmers, and people who work in oil refineries, rubber factories, or drug factories may be at slightly higher-than-average risk.

Liver Detoxification / Support Requirement

Long-term exposure to environmental pollutants and continued assaults on the detoxifying systems may lead to oxidative stress, high levels of phase 1 activity in the liver, and reduced phase 2 detoxification.

Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma

People who work extensively with or are otherwise exposed to certain chemicals, such as pesticides, solvents, or fertilizers, have a greater chance of developing non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
