Atherosclerosis

The authors of one study state, "This... study suggests that high hostility levels may contribute to early subclinical atherosclerotic coronary artery disease." According to background information in the study, hostility is a personality and character trait with attitudinal (cynicism and mistrust of others), emotional (anger) and behavioral (overt and repressed aggression) components. GLOSSARY

Arterial (Arteries, Artery)
Blood that leaves the heart. When it leaves the right ventricle, it is venous blood; and when it leaves the left ventricle, through the aorta, it is fresh and oxygenated. After it has passed out to the capillaries and started to return, it is venous blood.

Subclinical
Pertaining to a disease or condition: Not manifesting characteristic clinical symptoms, that is, not detectable through examination and/or having no symptoms; the period of time when a potential disease is still potential, and a functional imbalance or tendency has not caused any organic disruption. Those years of poor digestion, heartburn, and the
systematic suppression of upper intestinal function by adrenalin stress have not yet become overt gastritis, ulcers, or IBS.
