sore lymph nodes

Postby chronicallysick » Fri Oct 06, 2006 3:00 pm

I found a lump in my groin area last year and ignored it. It was small and painless. I was already undergoing surgery for endometriosis and didn't think I should worry. Now, I am in severe pain all over, especially in my abdomen. All of my lymph nodes have started aching. I am weak in all of my extremities. I am exhausted. No fever, no infection. I have been to several doctors. Today, I went to a nurse practitioner at the suggestion of my gynecologist. He thinks the lump is a lymph node. I am scared and stressed and I feel like I am worried for nothing. After all, the lump is small. They are doing blood work next week. They found a peasized lymph node under my arm, it's not even as sore as the other non swollen places. Has any one else had a similar experience? It's not a lymphoma, is it? I guess I will find out Thursday.

Dear Chronicallysick,

I hope your diagnosis is not as bad as you feared. Cancers and AIDS are not the only diseases that cause multiple lymph node swelling! If no one has figured out what's going on yet, make sure parasitic infections have been considered, as they will not readily come to mind in the typical American practice.

If you have more information to share (test results, etc.) and want ideas on alternative directions to take with either diagnosis or treatment, I'd like hearing from you again.

Best of health.
