pectoralis major deformity

Postby robertlx3 » Thu Jul 09, 2009 4:02 am

Hello, I'm 21 years old and since my 15 or 16 that i have created a chest problem.I dunno the reason for this.
The lower part of my left pectoralis major is just flat, not like my right part. Also, my right pectoralis major is slightly bigger than the left in the sides. Here's a picture:

Note that i have no problem in sports, including chest exercises like the bench press, it's just an aesthetics issue.

Can anyone tell me what disease is this?Ever heard of similar cases? Can this missing muscle be reconstructed by surgery or by non-surgical means?

Thanks.

This is a very late reply to your posting :-)

You have a mild form of Poland Syndrome (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poland_syndrome), which in your case is limited to the absence of the left abdominal part of the pectoralis major (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pectoralis_major_muscle), the muscle underneath your left nipple.

Reconstructive surgery is available at your age, they also have injections of a substance in that spot but it is temporary.

You can also just live with it if that doesn't bother you too much.

Take care
