Abnormal periods

Postby khaia » Sun Jan 28, 2007 12:07 pm

I have been experiencing abnormal periods since August of '06. It first started off with my period beginning early for the month of August, it was for the whole month of August. For September, I had a "break through" period a week and a half into my birth control pills. (Ortho-novum) And then my "normal" period on time. October, I again had a period for the whole month. November, the same as September. December, I was excited because I thought I was going to have a regular month, to end up starting on time, but after my period, I started a week after my period again. This lasted for 2 1/2 weeks. I then started again today.

My doctor has had me stop my pills and start back up on the following Sunday. I have done this 3 times and am still having problems. He continues to tell me it is just called "Break-through periods"

I have been put on Ortho-novum due to having an on-going issue with cysts. Which the cysts have not come back.

I get a sharp pain in my lower left abdomain and lower left back very frequently. To the point that it hurts to sit, laying or standing is the only "some what comfortable" position for me.

Endometreosis runs in my family. I also have had the freezing procedure done approx. 4 years ago.

I am starting to lose faith in my doctor. For some reason I feel I should not continue having the "break throughs" that I am.

Please, if you can shed any light on this, I would appreciate it.

Thanks

Erica

Over the years I've been on different bcp's. Each one had it's own 'break in' period. When I switched to seasonale I spotted almost continually for almost 4 months and then I settled down.

There is no shame in asking your pcp for a referral to a second gyn. They definitely don't know everything.

if you have no faith in your current doctor, you need to go to another doctor... i find it uncommon that the problem is still persistant..
